Character: Curro is a gorgeous, gentle and affectionate little pup. He arrived in foster understandably worried and anxious, but after a good night’s sleep he was already noticeably more settled. He loves being close to his people and is happiest curled up on a lap while his foster mum works or chilling beside her on the sofa in the evening. He loves affection and cuddles and is beginning to show his playful side, including having a game of tug with one of his foster siblings. Curro is a sensitive little soul who is still learning about the world and will need time and gentle encouragement to build his confidence.
Likes: Being with his people, cuddles, sitting on a lap, snoozing, food and treats, natural chews and toys. He has already discovered the toy box and particularly enjoys chew toys! He is also starting to enjoy playing with the other dogs in his foster home.
Dislikes: Curro is still gaining confidence with the big wide world. New people and dogs encountered outside can worry him, and he is still getting used to unfamiliar everyday sights and sounds. His foster family are introducing new experiences gradually and allowing him plenty of time to take everything in.
Special talents: Being an adorable little cuddle bug! Despite being a young Podenco, Curro currently walks very gently on his long line without pulling, preferring to sniff, explore and follow his person. He also has an impressive talent for emptying the toy box!
Specific needs: As a young puppy, Curro needs a family prepared for everything puppyhood brings, including continued socialisation, housetraining, guidance, routine and positive training. More importantly, he needs people who understand that he is currently quite sensitive and lacking in confidence outside the home. New experiences should be introduced positively and at his pace rather than rushing him. His housetraining is progressing well, although he is still having the occasional accident, which is entirely to be expected at his age.
Cat workable: Yes
How long they can be left for: Curro has been left in the company of the other dogs and is becoming more comfortable with this. He also sleeps quietly overnight in the kitchen with the other dogs. He has shown no destructive behaviour when left.
Current area: Derbyshire, UK
