Enrique

Gentle

Dog Name: Enrique     Nicknames: Henry, En, Enri

History: Galguero hand-in to Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert, Seville

Breed: Galgo

Colour: Sand

DOB: 29/07/2017

Height: 27.5″ to the shoulder

Weight: 24.6 kg

Neutered: Yes

Mediterranean Disease: Filariasis+ but treated and recovered; clear otherwise

Health Condition: Good. Has an old untreated fracture in his front leg which healed malformed. No surgery required.

Character: Enrique is a laid back lad most of the time but he is always pleased when his humans appear.  He usually greets his humans excitedly, with much tail wagging and dancing on his back legs.  He can sometimes be a bit defensive with dogs he meets out and about.  Some he takes a real dislike to and these he will lunge at but he can be calmed and distracted with treats.

Likes: Being curled up on the sofa.  Walks with good sniffs and lots of treats.  Food of any sort.  Cuddles and fuss.

Dislikes: Some other dogs, rain and snow.

Special Talents: He has extremely strong back legs, we don’t recommend standing behind him when he has had a poo or a wee as he likes to kick and scrape! He likes to be pressed close to his humans and will insert himself between your legs so adopters will probably need to have at least 80cm long legs to accommodate him.

Specific Needs: He has a very sensitive stomach so care needs to be taken with his diet.  His front leg doesn’t seem to trouble him at all but he has a distinctive gait because of it.

Cat workable: Yes, ignores their existence in the house. Wouldn’t trust him outside.

Dream Home: Lots of company, cuddles and a sofa to share with plenty of scrumptious treats and food.  Although he doesn’t really interact with our dog, I think he quite likes having other doggy company around.

Current Area: Sheffield,UK

Adopting or fostering a dog is hugely enjoyable and rewarding, but it’s also a lot of work, and it’s a big decision. Below are the 3 steps involved in the process of either adoption or fostering.

Step 1 is to learn what’s involved; about Project Galgo, about adoption and about fostering.

Step 2 is to contact us for more information and we’ll discuss everything with you.

Step 3 (the final step) is to fill out either the adoption or fostering forms and officially start the process. These forms are in depth, and may take you some time to fill out. It is recommended you do this on a laptop or desktop computer. It is required that you fill out every field, the forms will not submit if questions are skipped.
