Super

Dog name: Morante     Nicknames: Monty, Montysaurus

History: Galguero hand-in to Galgos Rescue Almeria

Uk arrival date: 12/10/2024

Breed: Galgo

Colour: Biscuit

DOB: 22/07/2022

Height: TBC

Weight:  24.3 kg

Neutered: Yes

Mediterranean disease: Clear

Health condition: Good

Character: Playful, quite needy of human company, inquisitive,  bouncy,  klutzy – no concept of where his legs and tail are

Likes: People, food,  walks, cuddles, sleeping with his human, treats, local dog friendly bar at quieter times, sofa, exploring, snuffle box, secure run time, puppacinos!

Dislikes: Loud noises, bees, sudden movements,  busy areas, off lead dogs, being left alone, squealing children

Special talents: Singing, being handsome, cuddling

Specific needs: Calm, understanding home, family at home a lot,  no small children, strong person to be able to hold him when he suddenly leaps sideways on his lead or pulls away when he sees a movement. Possibly another resident dog or a regular playmate. Currently sees the other dog in the family about 3 x per week. Took time to build the relationship. Can now be left alone together unsupervised for an hour or so.

Cat workable: No

How long can they be left for: Once walked fed and settled, Monty can now be left for an hour/hour and a half. He can still be unsettled and be vocal during that time but has become better at regulating himself. It’s been useful to close one of the curtains that looks directly onto the part of the street where people walk by with their dogs. Deliveries and people coming to the door can cause him to become unsettled.

Dream home:Quietish area, no young children, active – lots of walks, activities, access to secure runs on a regular basis

Current area: Newcastle, UK

Please use the form below to get in touch and ask about this adoption.

Adopting or fostering a dog is hugely enjoyable and rewarding, but it’s also a lot of work, and it’s a big decision. Below are the 3 steps involved in the process of either adoption or fostering.

Step 1 is to learn what’s involved; about Project Galgo, about adoption and about fostering.

Step 2 is to contact us for more information and we’ll discuss everything with you.

Step 3 (the final step) is to fill out either the adoption or fostering forms and officially start the process. These forms are in depth, and may take you some time to fill out. It is recommended you do this on a laptop or desktop computer. It is required that you fill out every field, the forms will not submit if questions are skipped.
