Vida

Vida

Dog name: Vida     Nicknames: Bumble, Vida Loca

History: Vida was rescued on 15/04/2026 with another senior Galga named Gilda by Buscan Dog Familia, Seville.

UK arrival date: 24/09/2026

Breed: Galga

Colour: Brindle

DOB: 29/03/2018

Height: TBC

Weight: TBC

Neutered: Yes

Mediterranean disease: Clear

Health condition: Generally good.

Character: Vida is a wonderfully gentle, kind and quietly affectionate girl. Although she arrived nervous, she has engaged with both humans and dogs from the beginning and has settled remarkably well. Her foster carer describes her as “sleepily affectionate” – she enjoys attention and being stroked but is also perfectly happy to take herself off for a snooze before coming back to join the family. She is increasingly pleased to see her people, approaching with a wagging tail when her foster carer returns from work. She can still be a little unsure if someone walks directly towards her, particularly if they are carrying something, so gentle and considerate interactions remain important. Despite this, she appears fairly relaxed and has shown no signs of stress within the home.

Likes: Sleeping and resting, affection and being petted, keeping an occasional eye on what everyone in the house is doing, and gentle walks. She has a very good appetite and so far hasn’t discovered a food she doesn’t like! Vida enjoys the company of the resident dogs and takes a lot of reassurance from them.

Dislikes: Car journeys currently make Vida anxious and she pants and whines while travelling. She can be uncertain when somebody approaches her carrying an object and is uncomfortable in one particular enclosed garden area, preferring the more open garden. Interestingly, she has not shown general noise sensitivity and has coped well with passing traffic.

Special talents: Quietly winning hearts! Vida is an exceptionally gentle soul who is already showing how affectionate and adaptable she can be when she feels safe. She also likes to do an occasional patrol of the house to make sure everything is as it should be.

Specific needs: Vida needs kind, gentle adopters who will continue to let her develop confidence at her own pace. She doesn’t need pressure or lots of stimulation; a reassuring home where she can rest, enjoy affection and take gentle walks would suit her beautifully. She appears to benefit greatly from other dogs and takes her lead from the resident dogs in her foster home, wagging her tail whenever she sees them and seemingly wanting to be closer to them. A calm, confident resident dog is therefore likely to be very helpful to Vida as she continues settling into UK life.

Cat workable: Yes.

How long they can be left for: She has so far been left for around 10–15 minutes and simply stayed in her bed. No destructive behaviour has been observed.

Current area: Isle of Bute

Please use the form below to get in touch and ask about this adoption.

Adopting or fostering a dog is hugely enjoyable and rewarding, but it’s also a lot of work, and it’s a big decision. Below are the 3 steps involved in the process of either adoption or fostering.

Step 1 is to learn what’s involved; about Project Galgo, about adoption and about fostering.

Step 2 is to contact us for more information and we’ll discuss everything with you.

Step 3 (the final step) is to fill out either the adoption or fostering forms and officially start the process. These forms are in depth, and may take you some time to fill out. It is recommended you do this on a laptop or desktop computer. It is required that you fill out every field, the forms will not submit if questions are skipped.
