Dog name: Whyn     Nicknames:

History: Galguero hand-in to Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert, Seville

Uk arrival date: 23/03/2024

Breed: Galga

Colour: Black

DOB: 16/12/2021

Height: 24.4″ to the shoulder

Weight: 23kg

Neutered: Yes

Mediterranean disease: Anaplasma and Filaria+, treated and recovered; otherwise clear

Health condition: Good.  Her coat is glossy and healthy – I add fish oils to her food. She’s not a fussy eater and is happy on kibble or wet or raw food and appears able to digest them all.

Character: An absolute delight. She is a characterful, confident girl but calm in the home. She’s not needy and will settle well, can be left for a few hours and is non destructive. She  loves to be around her human and dog family. She is a truly happy go lucky natured girl, her tail never stops wagging – she is the first to rush to greet me every morning. She is clean in the house given the regular opportunity to toilet outside. She has benefited from following the other dogs example.

She loves the sofa bounding game and will want to be your lap dog in an evening. So he adores touch a little massage and does the bottom bounce from foot to foot when you give her butt a scratch.i think she is the most genuinely affectionate dog I’ve ever met!

Likes: She absolutely adores people and other dogs matter what breed, and regards horses and larger animals as larger dogs to be greeted with equal enthusiasm. So be aware.

She does have a very high prey drive when out walking, and needs firm handling as she will be on her hind legs squealing with excitement at squirrels or deer. Or small furries, but is totally fine around small dogs. So hang on to that lead! She can also be quite scent oriented  these are the only times she pulls on the lead.

Dislikes:  Interestingly she does not like being too hot.  In  her earlier days with me she would just refuse to walk on occasions and I discovered by trial and error that she just wanted me to take her coat or vest off!

Special talents: Although she’s not a counter surfer, she is an adept shopping bag raider, and I mean managing to nose her way into a shopping bag in transit from the entrance to the table for putting away, and has taken a few chunks out of various packets with such skill and lightening accuracy and speed it defies belief! Speed raiding! Not speed dating.

She also loves swiping mouthfuls of grass on the move which she is also adept at.

Specific needs: She is a diamond of a dog I will miss her more than I can say, but I feel  certain she could fit into most environments as she is very adaptable and confident.

Cat workable: No

Dream home: People and dogs!

Current area: Hertfordshire, UK
