Help Us Keep Our Doors Open for the Dogs who Need Us

Our Go Fund Me is now live!

Project Galgo Help us Keep our Doors Open

Help us keep saying YES to the dogs who need us most.

At Project Galgo, we have always made a promise to the dogs who need us:

We will not turn away because you are old.
We will not turn away because you are injured.
We will not turn away because your treatment is expensive.
We will not turn away because helping you might be difficult.

In fact, when a dog has a health condition, we go directly towards them.

But right now, we need your help to keep doing that.

Our veterinary bills have now climbed to over £5,000, with several dogs needing ongoing treatment, investigations, surgery and care. We are fundraising constantly and absorbing as much of the cost as we possibly can, but the bills are spiralling faster than we can keep up.

And we have reached a point we desperately did not want to reach.

Until we can drastically raise funds, we simply cannot help more dogs.

There are dogs in dire need whose pleas are reaching us, and having to say “we can’t” because the funds aren’t there is devastating. We know there are more dogs who need us. We want to go towards them. But first, we have to be able to care for the dogs who are already depending on us.

Careta is suffering from nerve damage affecting her back legs, including her sciatic nerve. Her responses to stimulation are extremely slow in places and sometimes seemingly absent. She is experiencing pain and uncomfortable sensations in her legs — the pins-and-needles, itching and irritation that we believe are behind her nibbling at them. She now needs physiotherapy, ongoing medication and continued veterinary support to give her the best possible quality of life.

Magenta recently needed X-rays because there was a frightening possibility that she could have osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer. Thankfully, the X-rays ruled that out.

Sometimes the best vet bill is the one that brings enormous relief — but it is still a bill that has to be paid.

Then there is Milo. We funded a CT scan in the hope that there might be another surgical option available to help him. Sadly, the scan confirmed that there is no further surgery that can be done.

It wasn’t the answer we desperately wanted. But Milo deserved that chance. He deserved for us to investigate every possible option before accepting that there was nothing more surgery could offer him.

Hispano desperately needs dental treatment.

Dandara is undergoing investigations for a possible autoimmune condition.

And now Manuel needs surgery to remove epulis, as well as much-needed dental treatment. It is another necessary procedure and another significant veterinary cost that we simply cannot postpone indefinitely.

Alongside them are our long-term foster dogs — dogs who may not generate the attention of a new rescue story anymore, but whose food, medication, veterinary care and everyday needs continue month after month.

They are still Project Galgo dogs.

£5, £10, £20 — it all matters.

When people see a veterinary bill of more than £5,000, it can feel overwhelming.

Please don’t think your donation is too small to make a difference.

If 500 people gave £10, that would be £5,000 towards getting us back on our feet.

A few pounds can contribute towards medication.
£10 can become part of a physiotherapy session.
£20 can help towards diagnostic tests.
And every donation helps pay for the treatment these dogs need while freeing up precious rescue funds so that, when the next desperate plea arrives, we have a chance of saying YES.

We sadly know that we cannot help every single one of them. But we made a promise that we will never give up. Every frightened, injured or sick dog whose future depends on somebody deciding that their life is worth fighting for.

Right now, our finances are forcing us to say no.

We know times are difficult and not everybody can donate. If you can’t, please share this fundraiser. A share costs nothing and could put this appeal in front of the person who can make an enormous difference.

Thank you from all of us at Project Galgo — and, most importantly, from Careta, Magenta, Milo, Hispano, Dandara, Manuel and every dog whose life your kindness allows us to change.
