WOW…just WOW! It’s not often we’re lost for words but we’re struggling to find the superlatives to describe this stunning bronze sculpture that’s been donated by the incredible Nichola Theakston for us to auction!
Not only is Nichola one of the UK’s foremost contemporary sculptors working within the animal genre, she is also a huge dog lover and has two rescued Podencos herself. This beautiful piece is called ‘Tesem Study’ and is the Foundry copy and last available casting of a bronze edition of 12. Tesem is the Ancient Egyptian word for Hunting dog.
The auction will start on World Galgo Day, on the 1st February. This day marks the end of the hunting season, and raises awareness of the thousands of Galgos that meet a fate worse than the life of cruelty that they have already endured.
Every penny of the proceeds from the auction will be shared between Project Galgo and SOS Podenco Rescue
So please share this important fundraiser far and wide so that we can raise as much as possible for the two charities.
Watch this space for more details, coming soon. The link to the auction will be available on our Facebook and Instagram pages from 7pm on the 1st February and the auction will run for a week.
