Dog name: Dyna Nicknames: Gaia
History: Dyna was handed into SOS Galgos in Barcelona. She arrived very scared.
UK arrival date: 12/09/2026
Breed: Galga
Colour: Brindle and white
DOB: 16/06/2023
Height: 67cm
Weight: TBC
Neutered: Yes
Mediterranean disease: Clear
Health condition: No physical health concerns were reported during her first week in foster, although Dyna was extremely subdued and overwhelmed by the enormous change in her life.
Character: Dyna is a very gentle, sensitive girl who arrived in foster extremely shy and frightened by her new surroundings. At the moment, the world still feels rather overwhelming to her and she is happiest when everything around her is quiet and predictable. Despite her fears, Dyna enjoys affection and her foster family are gently helping her discover that cuddles, people and life in a home can be safe and enjoyable. She is very much a dog who needs time, patience and kindness, with no pressure to progress faster than she is comfortable with.
Likes: Affection, treats, peace and quiet, sleeping somewhere she feels safe and her fluffy dinosaur toy, which she likes to sleep with. Her appetite is good and she is treat motivated, although at this early stage she is not always confident enough to leave her bed to take one.
Dislikes: Dyna is currently frightened by many everyday sights, sounds and experiences. She is particularly noise-sensitive and can shake when frightened. Even walking on a lead and experiencing things such as the wind are still very new and scary for her. Her foster family are therefore introducing the outside world very gently and at Dyna’s pace.
Special talents: Quietly stealing hearts! Dyna may be frightened at present, but she is already showing that she enjoys affection and is beginning the process of learning to trust. She also travels well in the car and settles down to sleep during journeys.
Specific needs: Dyna needs a very calm, patient and understanding home with people who recognise that frightened dogs cannot be rushed. She will need time to decompress and learn about the world gradually, with gentle confidence-building and plenty of opportunity to retreat to a safe space when she feels overwhelmed. Her adopter will need to be comfortable allowing her progress to happen on her own timetable. She has shown some guarding behaviour around her resting place and food during her first few days in foster, so this will also need to be understood and managed sensitively while she gains security and confidence.
Cat workable: Not assessed.
Prey drive: Dyna’s foster carer has observed a very high prey drive, so this will need to be taken into consideration when considering her future home and during walks.
How long they can be left for: Dyna has been left for up to approximately three hours and remained settled in her bed, with no destructive behaviour reported. However, as she is still very shut down and finding her feet, this should not yet be taken as an indication that she will necessarily be comfortable being left for this length of time once her confidence and personality emerge.
Current area: Kent, UK

Adopting or fostering a dog is hugely enjoyable and rewarding, but it’s also a lot of work, and it’s a big decision. Below are the 3 steps involved in the process of either adoption or fostering.
Step 1 is to learn what’s involved; about Project Galgo, about adoption and about fostering.
Step 2 is to contact us for more information and we’ll discuss everything with you.
Step 3 (the final step) is to fill out either the adoption or fostering forms and officially start the process. These forms are in depth, and may take you some time to fill out. It is recommended you do this on a laptop or desktop computer. It is required that you fill out every field, the forms will not submit if questions are skipped.
