Dog name: Miki (Formerly Eloise) Nicknames:
History: Miki was adopted in October 2025 and has made great progress living in a home. She is now clean in the house, sleeps through the night and is increasingly comfortable in a domestic environment. She is being relinquished because her relationship with the older resident Podenco has deteriorated, causing the older dog stress and fear. Miki is a bright young dog who wants to please and would benefit from a home that can continue helping her learn to relax and manage over-stimulation.
Uk arrival date: 27/09/2025
Breed: Podenca
Colour: Tan and white, with white paws and a white flash on her chest and head
DOB: 12/01/2025
Height: TBC
Weight: 8kg
Neutered: Yes – spayed 12/01/2026
Mediterranean disease: Clear
Health condition: Great!
Character: Miki is lovely, clever, food-motivated and a quick learner who wants to please. She has made significant progress in a home but can still find it difficult to fully relax. She can become over-stimulated and sometimes becomes vocal and ‘jaws’ in an attempt to engage in play. This has improved with calm management, distraction and appropriate chew toys.
Likes: Treats, carrots, long-lasting chews, enrichment games, hunting for kibble, licky mats, frozen Kongs, playing with suitable dogs and having quiet/duvet days.
Dislikes: Busy or over-stimulating situations can be difficult for her; she benefits from space from other dogs when walking on lead.
Special talents: Intelligence!
Specific needs: Miki needs a calm, understanding home that will continue working on relaxation and avoiding over-stimulation. Shorter, predictable walks have helped her remain calmer at home. She benefits from a garden and enrichment activities. She is prey driven and has not been allowed off lead except in a secure enclosed dog park. Her previous carers feel she may benefit from living with another younger, compatible dog.
Cat workable: Unknown. Her previous carers feel that, given her prey drive, living with cats may not be suitable.
How long they can be left for: Around 3 hours with another dog visually present. She has not been tested being left completely alone.
Current area: North Yorkshire
