Orion

Dog name: Orion     Nicknames:

History: Orion is a one-year-old greyhound who was brought to a veterinary clinic by his owner in a terrible condition. His penis was completely necrotic and rotten, preventing him from urinating, so he had to undergo emergency surgery. ⁣ His penis has been amputated and he has undergone a urethrostomy, a procedure in which a small opening has been created in the skin connecting to the urinary tract, allowing him to urinate without any problems. ⁣

Uk arrival date: 16/05/2026

Breed: Galgo

Colour: Black with white

DOB: 22/01/2025

Height: 68cm

Weight: 25kg

Neutered: Yes

Mediterranean disease: Clear

Health condition: Good

Character: A clever boy. He will try most things 3 times and will make his decision on whether he is allowed to do something or not after that! He is also still pup and will investigate everything he can with his nose, mouth and paws, in that order. He likes people, and will actively seek strokes and kisses from them (particularly new ones), but isn’t overly demanding in the house, and is learning to enjoy and appreciate his own time and space.

Likes: Playing – with other dogs if he can, with a human, or even on his own. Toys seem to be enjoyed but also optional. Water from a watering can or water butt! Chasing moths or butterflies. Pears.

Dislikes: Definitely not a fan of being left if he hasn’t got a distraction. Also doesn’t like being manhandled (lifted, bum moved out of the way)

Special talents: Biting the fingernails or toenails of the humans! Taking joy from just running around in the garden on his own. Learning cheekiness from other dogs – like picking pears!!!

Specific needs: A family that understands that he needs boundaries, consistency and care, and that all this shows him the love and attention he needs at the moment. He needs to be taught and allowed to learn to relax in his own company, or with other dogs, without human intervention. He does not need to be pandered to or have every second of the day filled with strokes or activity.

Cat workable: With confident, dog savvy cats

How long they can be left for: 1 hr to 1:30 with a frozen Kong

Current area: Wem, Shropshire
